Where is the best place to buy Rotring pens? I am looking for the Rotring Newton Silver Pen without the clicker, just the end cap.

Thanks!

I have found many of my Rotrings on Ebay. Most of the pen sites that I buy from have dicontinued Rotrings.

Try Joon. www.joon.com.

Lots of cool pens, mostly upscale, but usually pretty heavily discounted.
They also have an 800 number so you can call and ask for something specific not on their site. Even if it's something small and cheap, the folks are invariably polite and helpful.

Get one if the originals from Europe. They are so much sweeter it's worth the effort. Avoid the inferior modern makes.

Got mine from Paradise Pen (believe they are based in Colorado). Most of them are discontinued unfortunately.

The search engine is not working for me, but DO NOT, under any circumstances, buy ANYTHING from The Writer's Edge.

I wrote a lengthy complaint in good/bad/ugly but long story short, terrible service from dishonest people.

You have been warned.

I can second the great service from Paradise Pen- fast shipping from the Washington DC area for the East Coast. I got 2 600s from them.

I've always had pretty good luck with WE, but it's been a while since I've bought from them since I found Goldspot.

Any luck finding the 600 rollerball in the polished finish? I am ordering a black finish today, but would much prefer the polished.

Thanks,

AN

Thanks for the leads, but neither have the rollerball in polished/silver. I think I may need to find one used someday.

I ordered a ballpoint 600, two for one at Paradise Pen, came yesterday. Can anyone compare/contrast to writing/heft/quality of the ballpoint vs. rollerball? I like the cap vs. click funtion of the rollerball.

Thanks,

AN

Just to let you know - I bought a silver ballpoint. It came, and I was slightly disappointed with the finish. It looked very cheap. I ended up buying one in the lava finish, which I have been using every day since.

Looking around on eBay, the lava seems very hard to find now.

That lava pen does like very nice. I might try to pick one up... or trade for one. Hm.

I got my 600 Rollerball from a Torsten Schrage on Ebay a few years back, the original version. Excellent guy to work with. He sent the ballpoint to me by mistake, then sent the Rollerball out to me as ordered and would not let me return the BP. I was amazed how quick they both got here also.

His email is referenced in the thread and post below, although I do not know if he is still selling. It's worth a shot though.

I think I bought Torsten out, at least I tried too because he had the old style brass Rotrings for a good price. I am really disappointed in the newer Safford Rotring 600's.

The Rollerballs have a nice balance and heft to them. The solid feel of ballpoint is even better with the Rollerball because there is more mass but, since the CG is higher and closer to the "pivot" point in my hand, it is smoother in motion to me.
