SOLD
Made this to cut with at the Batson Hammer In, unfortunately my plans have changed and I cant attend. So I decided to sell the Chopper, here ya go-

"Rough Country" Chopper, forged from 1095FG, 5/16+ thick at spine, 10" blade, 15" overall. Double quinch, double tempered blade, convex edge, brushed finish with flats left "as forged".

Guard/lanyard liners are SS, handle is Black Walnut. This is a big handfull of knife, not a "lightweight" by any stretch. If you want to get out in the woods and cut anything in front of you, its a good one for that.

Price is $525 as shown, no sheath, payment by Paypal or US POST OFFICE money order only. Thanks, Matt

thanks Allen, I enjoy making the big Bowies and Choppers. If anyone wants this one give me a call, I will be away from the computer for a day or so. 205-266-7719, Thanks, Matt

Great looking knife!

I am curious about the steel used though since the site I normally use to get an idea about a particular knife steel, doesn't talk about 1095FG.

I turned up something which indicated that FG = Fine Grained.

If that's correct, how does that enhance "regular" 1095 steel?

If this is distracting from the makers efforts to sell, please ignore.

Thanks all, going to reduce the price one time to 495 shipped, or 550 with sheath/shipped.

dwarthog, the 1095FG is from a large lot that Aldo has, its 3/8" x 1-5/8". Has a tad more vanadium in it than standard 1095. Real good stuff, especially nice for choppers.
