Wow, the best $9 I have spent on a knife. Great fit and finish I am blown away. No gaps in covers or springs. I'm just in awe! I got a reallllly good one! So pumped!

Cool good knifes.

Rough Rider Marlinspike knife. The couple that I'd bought several years ago had the marlinspike not locking, and I've read others say the same, even though it's supposed to lock. Still usable as long as you're aware of that and take care when tightening/loosening knots or doing rope splicing... ;)

I have a red marlinspike that I have had for several years. It is a RR and the spike locks open. I have to depress the bail to unlock.

They are a great knife. Are you going to try your hand at giving it some Skrimshaw?

I have no idea how to Skrimshaw. I cannot draw worth a hoot. My only tip would be to contact someone who knows what they are doing.
Look through this thread, we have a couple who are highly skilled at skrimming, in my humble opinion.
I'd name names, but don't have their prrmission.

Okay. Thanks I start grave yards tonight so I will be doing research. Thanks for the help!

The RR Orange Peanut arrived today. It will be a pleasure to gift this to the 8-year-old on his birthday. I hope that he can have a good time with this knife. Its so nice to start a boy down the "right road" in being responsible with a pocket knife and the "road to manhood".

Life is good.

I don't have any problems with the lock on mine either. Pretty solid knife.

As per my previous post re SMKW losing Colt license and those knives going to RR and Colonel Coon, I saw in the latest SMKW catalog where the Colt buckshot bone pocket knives have migrated to the rough rider line.

I have purchased RR knives before and have always been happy with them for the price. I've been buying GEC lately, but liked the look of this one and wanted a user that I didn't have to worry about. Sadly, this one has to go back. Both blades are resting against the sides and one end has the scales lifting up. The bone catches fingernails and scrapes skin at the bolster transition. Too bad, the knife looks nice.

That is a pity as it's really decent looking Ram's Horn.:(

I feel the interest in a Half Hawk coming on, too bad I can only find a Red Bone one, not very enthusiastic. Maybe they'll do one in Ram's Horn?

I think Marbles has a Rams Horn half hawk out.

I'm looking at that too, I like the Coal Miner.

Yes, the Marbles knives are true ram's horn, while this Rough Rider is Ram's Horn Bone (says it right on the box).

I've got one of the Marbles in a sowbelly pattern, very nice!
