Beautiful :)

I have that model but in saw cut bone, feels great. I just took a pic, only seems fair :) :

I like it and carry it every couple of weeks (there are many in the rotation) but I sometimes find the main blade nail nick a little tricky when my nails are short, the pen blade obscuring the pull. The spring is nice though and I use the small blade often anyway just for opening small boxes.

Would look nice with a swege...

That bone looks great, RR really do excel in their bone jigging...with their synthetics though I keep it to the smaller models (the larger ones the scales seem to lift) and enjoy my old yellow.

Being a gift from my wife she would have killed me if I stuffed it haha :D

Robertb, what did you use to grind those swedges on your knife? That makes that knife look totally different. It looks awesome, you done a great job.

That swedge looks excellent I wish RR would offer it also I've been impressed with RR's synthetic materials there yellow looks great.

Robert, like the others have said, you nailed it. The swedge adds just the right touch to make that a beaut. Very classy and looks like it's begging to be carried. you definitely did not "stuff it." Congrats.

Steven, at first glance I really like that saw cut bone. Then looking at the shape of the knife it suddenly looks kind of like a cockroach! When I can get that out of my head that is a nice jigging pattern. :D

Thanks a lot! I already carried it pretty much each weekend but now I dont want to leave it home :D

Post #618 has an image of something similar to what i use (one page back). Thanks :)

Ok more modded RR time :) it started life like this, I got it in 2009 so it is an early model.

Heres some tinkering, full blade swedge and on other side I went to the beginning of the thumb nick:

I didnt really like this sunfish, its growing on me though now that I did a little personalization. :)

I sent a Rough Rider Congress to a good BF friend who is a rancher and says this is his favorite pattern. Up to this point i didn't care for the Congress pattern esp as most have 2 full size Sheepsfoot blades, and 1 is enough. Well he used/abused/tortured that knife and loves it and still carries it everyday and has bought about 4 more for when it eventually wears out. His previous user/carry knife was one of his T. Bose folders.
That all seemed like a recommendation to me so i bought a few more Rough Rider Congress knives and now i like them.
The bottom 2 are the same pattern #; bottom 3 are all 4 1/8"; Stag is a 3 5/8" Colt (RR with diff. branding & diff. scales); Blacklip Pearl is 3 3/4".

LongRifle & Rifleman have 1/2 stops on all blades; Colt And Pearl knife do not have 1/2 stops.
These all are nice knives, just the right amount of pull needed to open blades, zero free play, every blade is shaving sharp. All cost under $20.

For an under $10 knife, this one is hard to beat. Nice Spearpoint & Pen blades, very sharp, perfect smooth action:

But here's the 'over the top' for under $10:

wrap-around spring for the shorter secondary blade ! Amazing.

The long rifle bone is really nice! same with the rifleman...I ordered a long rifle large stockman and dont think i'll be disappointed, will have to score a congress now! I'm glad they're doing the wrap around spring now, the older models they weren't doing it.

I traded it, but I had a RR congress I really liked. Nice knife. Those mods are great, BTW.

The "Rifleman" series of Rough Riders are pretty cool and unique for such an inexpensive knife IMO.

I have one RR stockman I made from RR kit and modified it a little bit with snakewood scales, swedges to the clip point and sheepfoot blades and simple shield, I am happy with the outcomes. It is decent user.

Roland, I have a couple of RRs in the same old yella scales as your gunstock, and they have the smoothest action of any of my over 150 production knives. For the money, their quality is untouchable. They are so inexpensive, I almost feel guilty liking them so much!

3-3/8" Dogleg Stockman

4-1/8" Locking Wharncliffe Trapper

I keep the trapper in my travel kit so I always have a largish knife with me in my hotel room. It came in mighty handy last month cutting up a fresh pineapple on the oceanside balcony of our room on Maui. :D

Another good aspect is if you loose one, or get it confiscated on the way to Maui, you can almost certainly buy another identical knife which, again, almost certainly, will have the same high level of fit & finish and sharpness.
I also carry custom made folders. The expense ($500+), plus the fact that another similar knife would be extremely difficult to obtain, makes these knives less of a 'care-free' carry.
I'd even feel badly about loosing a $75 Case or GEC, etc., but i don't think my upset would last very long if i lost one of my approximately 200 Rough Riders. I'd just order another.
