First one in a while, and some firsts all around for me. This one started out as a flat 3/16" thick, 1 1/2" wide bar of 1075. I rough forged it to get the basic shape, edge-quenched and tempered it, gave it a rough belt finish and had planned on cold blueing it, flaws and all(I'm still working on this hammer-swingin' thing:foot
However, the quench left a pretty good looking hamon, so I've just left it with the grey etched finish. Under the sisal wrap I left the forge/quenched finish on, and put a small piece of elk antler under each side (epoxied and 3 brass tubes holding them on), though one did chip slightly as I was pushing the tube through. I lightly coated the handle wrap with some acetone-thinned epoxy, just enough to help hold it together, though the rope still provides some cushioning and could be removed and wrapped with something else if so desired
. It's got a pretty thick handle, and it is pretty comfortable in either hand. I've also left a bit of the wrap rope hanging free, so you can cut it off or tie a lanyard with what's left.
She's right at 14 1/2" overall, 8 1/2" of that is convex-ground cutting edge, and she's lighter than she looks
A little loud and primitive, but a ton of fun
SOLD$100$90 Paypal'd and shipped here in the good ol' USA, a bit more for outside the country:thumbup: I haven't made a sheath for her, but I could be persuaded to do so for a bit more, say $15 for a basic pouch style leather sheath, though if you've got some leatherworking skill (which I don't:foot:
), I think she'd look killer in a more primitive style sheath.
Here's a few pics, the last two are next to a regular KaBar, to show size.

Thanks,
Walter Davis
