Round hole versus oval hole

Sal,

Thanks for the rational explaination. You're good at that.

As for the thread subject, I like the round hole on my Delica. I also like the 'hump'. Not only does it make the hole easier to use by placing it further out, it's what gives Spyderco models so much more character than other prod knives.

I agree. You won't find a shape that's more recurrent in nature than the circle. The hole gives all Spyderco knives their personality.

Kawanin, I would say the oval is a little, a LITTLE better than the hole. I still like the large hole of the Military and Spydercard. Your TNT handle is too slick.

BTW, I ended up getting a Fisher Space Pen because of you. lol

Sal,

thanks for clearing this up. That's a really satisfying explanation. It's great that the truth is so much better than what we came up with.

I have never tried the oval hole, BUT the round hole works G R E A T!

I don't foresee the need for me to get a knife with an oval hole

I will stick with the Spyderhole!!! LOL! (Rymes!)

As far as the Spyderco Holes go, the larger hole on the Military was always my favorite although the construction of that knife was not. Good knife, just could not hold up to what I wanted it to do.

Now...

I would love to see a Spyderco Military with dual Ti or Steel Liners...everything else being the same...even if it made it a little thicker. It had a dynamite profile...

A friend of mine just forwarded an e-mail to me, which he OK'd for posting:

"Hi David,

Welcome to the AFCK AXIS Club. There are many members in this club but so far no knife to put in your pocket. We are always looking at various models and honestly this particular "version" gets the most vote buy the public. Time will tell but so far nothing in the works that I know of. Sorry.

If they're actually DOING this, they're not letting slip about it, that's for sure.

I have tried BM's AFCK in both flavors. I won't be buying any oval hole BM's.
Your mileage may vary.
