Torture for a knife!! I don't know how you'd keep the grit out, except for frequent cleanings!! Maybe use graphite, not oil??I live in a deserty area. With no half stops, and instead rounded tangs, I can really feel the grit getting pulled through the spring when I open each blade. Has anyone else experienced this?
Yes, it does not feel good to open at all! Frequent cleanings and a dry lube like graphite might be the way, thanks!Torture for a knife!! I don't know how you'd keep the grit out, except for frequent cleanings!! Maybe use graphite, not oil??
I like that Schrade made them with clip blades! Most other manufacturers used spear blades! They really had something wonderful figured out with the old jr cattle knives.

Doesn'tJohnDF have one of these Cattle knives?
A wonderful gift from Charlie.you could have told us about it.
That's a great idea, I think. Unless the joints of a knife are too tight for it to get in. I have some graphite around here somewhere.Maybe use graphite, not oil??
This is what is required, sprays right into the joints, leave it for 24 hours to cure. As an aside, fantastic for older car key ignitions, helps to stop the barrel wearing out, and really good in car door locks.Unless the joints of a knife are too tight for it to get in.
The stuff I have around here is powder in a tube. This is what is required, sprays right into the joints, leave it for 24 hours to cure. As an aside, fantastic for older car key ignitions, helps to stop the barrel wearing out, and really good in car door locks.

But this sprays into hard to get into places, like knife joints. The stuff I have around here is powder in a tube.
Yes, I'll have to get some of that. The powder is ok for pipe organ tracker slides, but I can't see it for pocket knives. Put the knife in a baggie of powder and shake it? No, I'm convinced. But this sprays into hard to get into places, like knife joints.![]()
No mate, i don't think i would be doing that either.Put the knife in a baggie of powder and shake it? No, I'm convinced.
