Round up those Cattle Knives!!

Anyone able to tell me anything about this one? I don’t know much about Ulster but here’s what I can tell.

- It’s marked ULSTER / KNIFE / CO.
- It was specified as bone covers by the previous owner and I have no reason to doubt that, but you never know. If it’s imitation bone, it’s very convincing.
- It looks to have bolsters made of iron or steel, not nickel silver.

I’m curious if anyone knows when this was made, what factory it was made in, and if there’s any definite answer about the handle material.

Beautiful knife.
I believe Ulster's factory was in Ulster, NY.

My  guess on date is 1950's, perhaps earlier.
(I cannot locate an Ulster tang stamp chart)

These should be made by Schrade for Ulster. Like you said, jigged bone handle and steel bolsters. I don't know about the timeframe, but I'm sure someone who knows more about Schrade Cut Co period knives will be able to tell more about it.

Junior Cattle knife made by Schrade for Ulster. Same as a Schrade model #856.
