Round Yorkshire With A Knife: The Wizard’s Quest Part 1: Bad Knight In Knaresborough

I feel like I've been on vacation (holiday, to you?) after reading of your escapades, Jack! Or that I've traveled back in time. Or that I've known some of the places & faces of which you speak….. probably from a Dickens novel. All good my friend, all good! ;)

Yes, I sometimes feel a bit like that myself! Heaven knows what those two tourists the mad woman had collared thought of it all! :D

Something like this possibly? :)

If you aren't writing professionally, Sir, you SHOULD be. Above and beyond what I expected, now I'll be looking through the past posts to find the rest of your stuff.

Thank you :)

As expected, Jack's adventures, pictures and the retelling of the adventures are captivating. Almost as good as being along for the quest. Thanks for bringing a bright point to an otherwise dreary Wednesday Jack.

Great post, Jack. Did you know that crows and ravens can count to three? Very intelligent birds! No kidding.

Carl.

Imagine how the plot might thicken if we were to discover that Madame Gi Gi was a forum member.

Godspeed to ya Jack!

Isn't it called a murder of crows? Ah the plot thickens, I've seen WWII spy movies that started like this... ;)

Delightful; thank you it was like being there. Next time I am on a job site I will inform them that I am wearing a fluorescent waistcoat (dare I say "weskit"). It's great to share a different language. Luck on the knife quest, may it not end soon.

What an entertaining narrative! I'm picturing a television show like "No Reservations", only not Anthony Bourdain in search of booze and food, but you in search of booze and knives.

Awesome Jack, as per usual your talent in writing brings us much joy - was a great read!

I love the cool seat with the snakes that the Raven is on, those Ravens are a amazing bird-a very big and powerful one at that!

Many thanks for your kind words friends :)

Thanks Carl, I didn't know that. I do like crows, but rarely see ravens.

Music to my ears Fes ;)

Very enjoyable story. I'm looking forward to the next installment. Well done!

Thank you. I honestly don't know what my next day's questing will bring, hopefully I'll get some knives, but it might be a dull day.

Thank you Ton. Yes, my dad always said "weskit"! :D

My dream job! :D

And lo his quest began in the mist strewn dales.
I actually read once that the name of Meakin is derived from the anglo saxon word malkyn meaning cat or slut. This was a nickname given to one Marion Neston in the 1200s.Now if thats not a tenuous connection to Robin Hood I dont know what is.
Kes-read it many times and own the DVD. a personal fave for sure.
Jack-a great telling.certainly brightened my evening here at the saltmine..If you get the chance watch "the devils crown"a 70s drama about the Plantaganets.
