Router Variable Speed Control

Will one of the variable speed controls for a router work on a grinder motor without losing power or burning it up? Anyone use a router variable speed control box on a grinder? Thank you.

.. No, unless your grinder is powered by a router motor or similar motor type.

Variable speed controls only work on motors with brushes, this is what the gents at the WoodCraft store told me. My grinders (DeWalt and Baldor) do not have brushes
