Here's a little hawk I forged from a new spike-A pia to make and I don't do many, getting the eye right is the worst and this one isn't perfect,I blued then etched in bleach for the patina. The haft is a nice tiger maple-Thanks for looking----Butch

That is freakin cool.......thing looks like you could trim a gnat's wings as it's flying. Is it as balanced and nimble as it looks??

Pretty well balanced, and it is a light weight since it was just a spike:thumbup:Thanks--Butch

That is a very nice looking Hawk. One of a kind for sure, nice work....

Do you plan to make more of these.....how much will they run if you do??

I'm sorry if you were making these in the 18th Century you would have changed hawk history this is still cool as hell.

Thanks fellas, this one is listed on Ebay if you are interested-Hi Ivan how's it going----Regards Butch

That`s a beauty. Would you mind giving us some more details on how you go about etching with bleach to get that patina? I`ve never heard of that before.

Hi David,it's very simple.I finish the head to it's final grinding, clean . (I use spray brake cleaner,go over with cold bluing I dab on rather than rub),I then suspend on a wire in reg.bleach, take out rinse ,rub with a fine Scotch_Brite pad.I look at the finish if I want more,I drop back into the bleach, til I get what I want------Thanks again for all your comments-:thumbup:-Regards Butch

PS: Some metals do etch differently,so ymmv---
