A Japanese Kwaiken inspired knife with color tones of Spring. Neat little blade. One of these sits in the drawer of my night-stand. Perfect for opening letters, cutting my meds in half, and stabbing an intruder. Jack of all trades in a compact package. Pretty to boot.
Steel: 1084, HT by me, quenched in Parks 50, tempered to 57HRC, high flat ground, distal taper, 3.8" long and ~.11" thick at the ricasso. Machine Finished (scotchbrite VF). The taper gives it an incredibly precise point.
Scales: Forest Green G10 base, White phenolic spacer, then a Ghost Jade G10 layer adds the crowning layer. It has been shaped to allow the green/white to peek through the jade at the edges. Fixed with brass pins and west systems epoxy. I think it looks pretty interesting. Reminds me of my favorite canoe, an Old Town from the sixties hand laid out of fiberglass.
