Hello guys,

last weekend is my Rtak2 broken:eek:

I buy this knive because the it was build/desinged for military troopers, survival and outdoor fans like me:D

I´am realy happy that the blade is broken, when i don´t realy need it for living in the wood´s or jungel or every where else you need a good blade...

I was trusts in the 1095 steel and the size 4,9mm on the back and 1,1 at the edge 49,8mm high thats a lot of material...

So waht... back to the facts... on saturday i meet some friends for BBQ&fire at my home:thumbup:

I wanna only split a 10x10cm~ 4"x4" thats realy a joke for a 10" blade...

index.php

Because in break it was realy tactical too...it was a silent one...

I don´t under stod how it can damage...i dont use a hammer only a stick of wood...

I´m realy mad because it was one of my favorit knives for big games...

I wirten a mail too ontanrio...because this guys don´t anther:grumpy:

Thats not realy fine...becuse i know my english is not the realy best... but for a knive freak some motivations words not so much work... I better not belive in steel...

Thanks for watching, God protects us all..

Greats

Kay

Could you possibly post some pics. It sounds like there was possibly a crack in the knife already. If there is rust where it broke, that is a good sign that there was a crack.

Also, you state that this was one of your favorite knives for big game. How so?

I didn´t know? I´fe a new Rtak2 the right one for me... I´ve got a feeling when i use a knive thats not togh anogh for littel gameing in the garden... thing about you´re survival knive crack and then is a littel bite nothing with knive work in the wood..

Greats Kay

kay sorry about that experience & you are right at least you were,nt in a critical situation.do'nt worry about your english, its not any worse than my spelling. forum guys are pretty tolerant so please comminicate as much as you desire. please ship the knife back & let the forum how you are treated . responses are the best way for members to be aware of a manufacturers treatment of customers. you can be sure we certainly take notice of unfair treatment & poor quality products.

make sure you next knife is from ESEE knives (RAT cutlery). my favorite is the 3 or 4 but if you like the big ones the 6 is nice and they now offer a 10 plus they have a warranty that can't be beat!

With a other mail adress its realy fast reply vom Ontario

"If you could send the broken one back, we will determine what caused the breakage. We will send you a new one.

Please put your name and address and a note that you emailed us.

Thank you. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Sue"

Thats like honey for my sins..

Outstanding resolution!
I hope the new knife stays intact and serves you well.

I'm happy for you that things went well, Dithmarscher.

I think it's about time to rethink Ontario for a lot of folks around here.

I found them to be very responsive and quite interested in finding a resolution when I had a problem with one of my Ontario knives.

I had a problem with one of the scales on an Ontario RAT 7 being a bit poorly fitted. Not terrible, but a little annoying. Once I called customer service, they verified with the dealer it was brand new, then sent out two new scales as well as stainless screws for it. No questions asked, no pictures of the fit, nothing. I told them I had a problem, and they told me they would like to take care of it for me. Nothing else.

Just scales and screws in 5 days. The told me to keep the old ones for spares.

I called the dealer I bought the knife from (Tom at Chestnut Ridge) and he told me he rarely needed any warranty work or customer service work, but when he did they were Johnny on the spot.

Same service Dithmarscher got all the way in Europe.

I know we all have our favorite brands we support, but I am glad Dithmarscher was patient enough to let Ontario resolve the issue for him.

There are definitely photos which show the broken RTAK but maybe Kay will post them himself or I ask him if I can. The knife broke close to the handle, where the serrations start.
