The custom order that I placed many moons ago just arrived from the Ruana shop... Unfortunately for me, I will have to part with the one Brand New and Dead Mint, Ruana 30~A Bowie Knife. This is the classic fighting Bowie Knife that an untold number of our soldiers have taken onto the battle field since Rudolph Henry Ruana started producing his Custom Fighting Bowies back in the 1940's, and still continues to present day some 60 + years later. These are still hand forged the same way, one at a time, at the famous Ruana Knife Works shop in Bonner, Montana, and produced by Victor Hangas for over 40 years... Ruana Bowie Knives are so sought after today, that the waiting period is now 18~24 months from the date of ordering to date of delivery... But you do not have to wait 2 years for this puppy.. :D

Knife Specifics: 30~A Bowie Knife, has a 9 1/2 inch blade, 1 5/8 inches wide, 5/16 inch thick stock of high carbon steel, hammer forged, hollow ground, individually oil quenched, and differentially heat treated. The handle is one solid piece of poured molten aluminum directly on the tang, and fitted with a beautiful set of dovetailed Elk Stage Scales. Handle is 4 7/8 long with finger grooves for maxium comfort. This combat bowie blade has a 'shop' sharpend top clip edge of 4 1/4 inches, and the spine has the classic Ruana parry strip. This knife is hair poppen`wicked sharp...

Sheath: The scabbard or sheath is the upgraded heavy duty custom option with the fine sharpening stone / hone. Sheath is hand made of natural tanned leather sewn with 7~ply harness thread and brass tacked at the Ruana Knife Works shop...

Price $: 725. which includes USPS Priority Shipping/Parcel Tracking & Insurance.

Hillbillenigma,
I am glad you like it. You ought to see this puppy at the camp~sight in action though... I have several of these and the oldest one I've got
[c 1970's] has been used for everything from felling trees 6~8 inches thick to building shelters and fashioning litter poles. Makes very short work of these chores.

During the start of hunting season last fall I was handed a 'Cold Steel~Trail Master' model camp knife by my partner when the usual camping chores, as stated above, came up. With in about 10~15 minutes I had handed it back to my buddy because it had lost it's edge and for me it was way off balance... As he was getting frustrated trying to re-sharpen the TM, I finished the shelter and chopped kindling for the fire. And still had a great edge on the Ruana to boot.. I just love these knives. :) ... To see they're full line go to www.ruanaknives.com

As far as trading goes, normally I may be inclined to trade, but this one I will need the money for.. UNLESS.. there is some individual out their with any Jim Behring made "Treeman" knife for trade plus funds, or straight trade, depending on the model and condition...

Cheers,
SD
