Ruana handle problem

I have a ruana skinning knife with a stag handle,and I noticed a small crack in it.Is their anything I can do to seal it or otherwise keep it from getting worse?any suggestions would be appreciated.If I am posting this in the wrong forum I apologize in advance.

You probably would have gotten a better response by posting in the shop talk forum, but it's no big deal posting here.
As far as repairing the stag handle, there are several different kinds of epoxy and dyes/additives that will allow you to blend the color to a very close or possibly identical match. Check the links for knife making supplies on this website or send off for the Brownell's gunsmithing catalog. You can usually find their address in most good gun magazines. I don't think they're on the net yet.
You didn't say how big the crack is, but if it's big and getting bigger, you may want to consider stress releiving the handle material. You can do this by drilling a small hole at each end of the crack. This will allow the material to flex rather than crack further, and it won't be any more problem to repair the drilled holes when you repair the crack. Let me know if this is any help.
