Rubber Band Test

Thanks for nothing Para! I just shot a rubberband at my favorite imported mystery steel pos and the goddamn blade broke and flew right off the handle. Now I have to watch that knife show on tv and order me up another.

yeah well I tried again and released the knife instead of the rubber band, its lodged in my shoulder quite nicely lol who's idea was this again  ;)

For you guys with the super sharp sebenzas that only get 2 or 3 peices, I guess that just shows how over rated your knife is :D just kidding. Going by the theory that Paracelsus started with and I sort of restated, you shouldn't get very many pieces on a sebenza due to the width of the blade from edge to spine. Because of the that dimension being closer to the diameter of the rubber band, its not possible for the band to fold as many times before contacting the blade. See what happens with a bigger rubber band.

Oh, you were kidding? Guess I'll go dig it back out of the trash can, and give it another chance.

I think I'll try a few different blades with several different size rubber bands. Not because I want to get 19 pieces or anything, though-all in the interest of science (ok, honestly, I want to be able to say that I atomized a rubber band, too:p).

Be aware! This thread will most likely cause excessive sharpening...

I started sharpening my Delica like crazy, only to find out it became less and less sharp...

I got it back in order once I picked out my Sharpmaker. ;)
