Hello,

I remember reading someone's post that if you rub the medium grit sharpmaker stones together for 5 min before you use it the first time they work best. Anyone care to explain why that is?

Thx

1. Ensure they are flat and no dings, mirror images of each other.
2. Expose the surface completely.
3. Roughen them up. They are pressed and cooked ceramic When you get them there can be a "glaze" effect.

Though 5 mins seems kind of long to me.

The corners will be nice and rough after about 10 seconds. BTW, Sal recommends this step on the DVD.
