Knowing Ryan (sak) a bit, I think it could be construed more as banter between two Chicagoans and not much more. If I am wrong, I can hand out a warning, but I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt. What do you say Ryan? Maybe an edit to express your true feelings...er...wait maybe that isn't a good idea.

Yea PG.

You know Ryan (Sak) a bit.

He is a good guy... I can assure you he was not trying to start chit.
You nailed it... ''harmless banter between 2 Chicagoans"

I find the restrictions on this forum a bit numerious comparred to other places but I;m not gona Bitc# :barf:

Us Chicago Folk have dirty mouths..:D

HEY FOLKS GOT A QUESTION:

Figured it would be pointless to start a new thread when I can get my answer here..

Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to obtain a good quaity Strop and compound ? I am in dire need and would appreciate if anyone can help me out..

-Thanks

I have one of Jerry's air bleeders and a wooden leather covered one from Lee Valley. I like the both, the air bleeder works better for some knives and the Lee Valley does well all the way around. Lee valley sells the compounds too. Some here have also recommended Hand America, but I haven't dealt with them or used their products.

Uncle J: I have also been looking for a strop myself and it seems that the Lee Valley one is the most recommended and best all around. They sell a combo kit that comes with a 2 sided strop and compound. Lee Valley is a great company with excellent customer service. I have bought many things from them. I think I am going to order one this weekend. Wish Jerry was still making the air bleeders.

Thanks A lot guys.... I appreciate your help!

I just checked out the strops at Lee Valley. Very cool. They look pretty simple to make. Has anyone just glued some leather to some wood and tried that? Anyone make their own? Or is there more too it than that?

Good question TL !

In the past I just used an old leather belt... but its falling apart and I'm sure its not quite effective as a real strop....
