  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Ruger 10/22 Takedown Discussion

I toyed with a lot of .22 rifles for a canoe camping gun, and for light weight and compact size, the CZ scout beats them all. JUst as compact as a 10/22, way more accurate, and dead nuts reliable with any ammo you can stuff into it, being a bolt action. And 10 round mags are made by CZ for it. I haven't found any other .22 to match the CZ for hitting what your shooting at. The 10/22's can be finicky.

I haven't been to the range with it yet, but I just bought my son a savage "rascal." It is a single shot, but if it is as precise as the inclusion of the Accutrigger would lead me to believe, that shouldn't be a hindrance in a "fill the stew pot with small game" role. It is not much bigger than a large pistol and would fit in a book bag, but I can still fit my 6' frame onto the stock in a comfortable shooting position. And, it comes drilled and tapped for scope mounts. For my money, this should be a great pack gun. But right now it is a 7 year old's first "real" gun.
