Ruger LCP

I carry a NAA .22 derringer on hiking and kayaking trips, loaded with .22 CCI snake/birdshot. I'll tell you this much, in a pinch, used defensively against two-legged predators, I would not want to be the face on the receiving end of that stuff!

Professor.

i have the Ruger LCP as well and i like it a lot... i have medium size hands so i need the clip extender but other than that its all good.. a lil snappy but thats to be expected from such a small gun with a high pressure load.. i HATE the kel-tecs. low in quality compared to the ruger

Here's the LCP in my hand. I can get almost all of 2 fingers on the grip. It doesn't seem to be a problem so far.

choke up on the grip some and its not as bad.. place the thumb along under the slide. it really helped with the jumping when it goes off. i cant really complain much about the gun. its made for concealment and up close and personnal

i hope it works out for ya should ya ever really need the thing.

personally, a NAA derringer with ratshots the last thing i would want for a serious scenario but YMMV.

I love my LCP...I have the ruger clip extender, crimson trace laser, and I am still able to carry it without any printing.

Is there a small grip extension for the LCP? Here's one on my P3AT.

That's what I'd call a "large" grip extension. :p

Note the short one at the bottom of the pic... the short one is essentially the same as on your P3AT.

The large one adds +2 rounds.

I prefer my melted NAA .32 Guardian.

I can't take photos as its in the states in a safe with my other toys but here is a pic from their website of the package...note the difference beteen the stock version top and the melted/carry version below. Very handy system and one that basically disappears when carried in a pocket hoster or iwb. I find it a very handy stand in for my '03 Kahr .40 Elite or my go to Glock 23. .32 is a bit light but the Speer Gold Dot 60gr JHPs, fill the bill very nicely. A new-school belly gun in the best traditions of the term.

Regarding the LCP, Ive handled one but I didnt really care for the feel of the trigger. How does the Pierce Extender+2 grips work out on it? I like the addition of the Crimson Trace, too.

I'd never seen the "melted" model... looks nice!

As for the +2 extension, I really like it. All of my mags have at least the short, curved extension, and then I have a few more with the +2. I've been switching off between carrying one, and then the other length mags to see how they affect carry and how they print.

Personally, I LOVE the extended length of grip you get from the +2's... and so far I've not had any issues with it increasing the size of the package for CCW... it's still small enough to conceal easily. It definitely makes it more fun to shoot at the range (well... almost fun;))... none of these "pocket pistols" are "fun" to shoot IMO.

The only issue of note, would be that because of the increased length in the grip, it DOES come out of the pocket a bit tighter when I pull it. I get a better grip with my hand on it inside the pocket, but that creates a bigger "fist" pulling it out of the pocket opening.... It's just something I'm having to get used to I think.

I like the Crimson Trace as well... as you know from shooting your "sight-less" .32, these guns are point and shoot, so the laser adds a nice point of aim. I actually have CT lasers on all of my carry handguns.

As for the trigger on the LCP?... typical long pull... too long IMO. But I've never liked any pocket pistol's long pull... again, something to get used to (I miss the Glock trigger feel!:D)

Sooo... Ruger over Kel-Tec???

IMO? Having carried and shot both? Yes, for me, Ruger wins over Kel-Tec (primarily a quality of build thing, as they both carry about the same).

ON EDIT: The LCP for me, is only a "summer" gun. Soon, as the weather cools, I'll be back to the Glock 19 as a primary.

Tim,

I love the set up. My primary mode of carry is pocket carry. However, I'm one of those guys who bought the S&W 625-10 for pocket carry:D I didn't keep it, primarily because of the recoil, but I'm considering trying it again.

I'm currently lusting after the LCP & LCR. I'm a Ruger fan, what can I say. I've had a PM9 and a MK9 (bought for the wife) and the PM9 was good for pocket carry, but only a few ounces lighter (17oz vs. 21oz) than the 625-10. The MK9 was too heavy for a 9MM pocket gun, IMHO.

My current pocket gun is a 6 shot 17oz Colt Agent in .38 with a bobbed hammer and either a wood boot grip or a set of Pachmyers (sp?). I like my Colt, but I keep shooting it high left & I want something a little smaller/lighter. This is where the 13oz $400 LCR and the $300 9oz LCP are tempting. I won a Kel Tec 32 a few years ago and when I brought it home, my wife said "it looks like a toy". Ammo was/is about the same price as .45ACP and I couldn't hit squat with it.

I've borrowed, carried, and shot a friend's Kel Tec P11. Not a bad gun, but a bit big and heavy for the pocket. I shot another friend's PF9 this weekend, after shooting the local IDPA match with my XD 9. I was surprised at how snappy the little PF9 was. He warned me about the long reset on the trigger. I didn't have a problem with it, being used to my old GP100. I'd consider the PF9 with a light and/or laser on the rail and a limbsaver rubber grip.

Still haven't given up on the big bore dream, though:D

Greg,

I haven't been able to get my hands on an LCR yet, but I hope to have a feel soon.

I have an SP101 that I carry with/or the Glock 19.

I've carried both quite comfortably, without printing in thin terrycloth shorts, by wearing a --- don't laugh --- ThunderWear "crotch holster".

Yes, a Ruger SP101, or a Glock 19, in light summer shorts without printing. Not as comfortable as the LCP in a pocket holster... and not the quickest draw from ThunderWear, but the set up, provides the "deepest concealed carry" I have ever found.

Hey, if a guy has me at gunpoint with my hands up, he'll understand if I tell him I've got a bad case of jock-itch and REALLY need to scratch right?:D:D

I too, use the NAA .32 as a summer gun w/ a Graham Custom pocket hoster. Literally disappears. No printing. Of course with no sights it is a belly gun. I can keep it on a torso target out to 7m reliably. I will look into a CT for it...seems a nice addition and one Ive overlooked.

Normal carry is one of my Glocks (G23) or my K40. Just when Im home in Texas it is sometimes seasonally impractical to carry a firearm that size and get away with it.

Yes!

See post 14 in this thread.

damn the accesories cost as much as the pistol does lol.... out of curiosity why use hollow points with a caliber that low?? in the summer i can vaguely see it but in winter, coats and etc will drastically slow that bullet down.. fmj's all the way

No kidding about the cost of accessories!:D (my pocket holster was cheap though:D:D)

The LCP isn't my primary carry for colder weather (and winter coats etc.)... if anything it might be a backup, and then I do load it with FMJ's.

In cold weather I carry my Glock or Ruger SP101... not so much worry about heavy clothing then.
