Rugged but nice, low priced folding knife...?

Enlan EL01 flat ground, flipper, 4" blade, solid linerlock
Enlan EL02, hollow ground with thumbstud, 3.5" blade, on axis lock

Both below 20$ shipped.
 
My first thought when I read ur post was the Ontario RAT 1. Good alternative (and slightly cheaper) options would be the Ka Bar Dozier folder and the Kershaw One Ton. All cheap but very solid knives that u can beat on without any worry.

Not a very popular opinion these days; it seems the forum has been overrun lately by knife Users. ;)

Sorry I don't have a specific knife recommendation, but I'll tell you how I get past the Use vs. Save dilemma, all of my user knives have a duplicate set aside in the Collection. So buy whatever you want, but get two. ;)

Have you considered a fixed blade knife?
 
Haha, wow, okay. Yes, I am one of those, "knives are tools" guys, so I say use it and quit panty-waisting about. ;)

But if you just can't bring yourself to do it, pickup a Dozier folder from KA-BAR. It's in your price range for sure and plenty strong enough for cutting stuff.
 
$20 is a tough price point to find tough knives. You should be able to get a Ka-Bar Dozier, model 4062, for that price.

The Enlan EL-02b is bigger and heavier at about the same price shipped from overseas.

The CRKT Drifter SS is smaller and probably lighter, but it, too, is a fine folder for the price.

You'll probably have to spend a bit more to do much better than any of these.
 
$20 is a challenging price-point. I'd suggest looking at: Ka-Bar Dozier, Byrd Cara Cara 2, SanRenMu (there are quite a few models to choose from in the <$20 range,) CRKT Drifter, and also see if there's a SAK that would do the trick.

for 20 bucks...the Enlan EL-02. its rugged, sturdy and nice looking (IMO) and it comes in either G-10 or micarta handles. plus you can beat on it all day.
