I got this from a friend and it was supposed to be the emerson patent fox karambit, but I got it today and it is totally different. It says "Ruko-Fox Production Model #480" it's made of 440C instead of N690.

I tried googling this and got some auctions saying this is "rare" does anybody know if this really is an early production knife from FOX, or if it's some sort of a clone?

It looks very similar, but doesn't have the wave and the shape of the blade it's a little bit different (the tip). Most likely it's a clone.

Hey sub disease, how much did you pay for the knife?

I did some pretty intense web crawling and i could not come up with much info for you. However, i found some forum posts on other sites showing the same knife dating back to 2007. I held one of these today, and it actually felt like better quality than a G-10 FOX emerson patented Karambit. It would be interesting to see what the origins of these knives are. I am actually interested in purchasing one. However, i can say that it is NOT a clone. As the model predates the FOX folding karambit that is so popular nowadays. I am starting to believe that the current models are an evolution of the model you own.

But not much info can be found, I am curious to know the facts too, especially because I was about to purchase one for $70 dollars.

IT IS A REAL FOX. I bought one from sportmans before I left on my 1st deployment back in 2005. The reason for the lack of having the Emerson Patent is due to the manufacture date of your knife. I will get some photos up of the mods that I did to help her along on the pocket draw.

Hi, new to this site. And said the same initial question. I just bought from a guy I know for $20 ita in PERECT condition. He bought it in like 2007 at Sportman's Warehouse( where he was an employee). At that time it was $168. I've seen where some sites say this particular knife is rare. Anyone else have any info? I found one on Ebay (used) for around $215. Any thoughts.....appreciate it!
