Rules of thumb

For grinding and buffing I wear a Full Face Shield and my Resp-O-Rator also gloves at times.

I can't imagine losing an eye. A full face shield is $15.00 and it's like a seat belt. Once you get use to having it on it is no problem. Protects your whole face.

Also wear your respirator even after you turn the grinder off. It takes some time for the air to clear. Most people turn the grinder off and take the respirator off at the same time. You even see it on TV. That is often when the consentration of contaminate is at its highest.
