On another Forum, a member reminded me that we were frequent drinkers of Orion Beer...
It was OK beer, but the amusing thing [in 1971] was that you never seemed to get the same bottle shape twice...It was the standing joke that the Orion brewery reused other brewers bottles and just slapped their label on the bottles...Might have been true...

I couldn't recall what we paid for it...but here is a quote from a flyboy stationed near Kadena back then...
"Nose Pickers" - Kadena, Okinawa
"The speed limit on the island was 30 mph, and only 20 mph if we were hauling a nose section, warhead or bird. Tiedown checks on the return trip from site 3, usually done in front of a grocery store, were frequent. Cold Orion beer was only 35 cents a quart."

Strangely enough, I don't remember any of my brothers-in-arms carrying a pocketknife of any kind, much less a Buck...EOD did carry Ka-Bar fixed blades...
