Running knife

I've done quite a bit of running w/ my rittergrip, I also used to wear my Emerson La Griffe quite a bit. Either one is pretty comfortable. You do need to wipe the La Griffe down occasionally it will rust. But no worse than when staying strapped to your body armor in the summer.

May I ask why you need a 'swimming knife'? I am genuinely interested.

Why would you need a knife when running a 10k?

What are you two doing here if you need to ask that question? :D

I use my regular EDC for running. Even my Manix from time to time, although it does tend to bounce around a bit.

Running with a knife IWB in the small of my back, through the bush, does wonders for my fantasy life - I imagine the opening scene from 'Last of the Mohecans'. Have I ever actually used a knife on a run? No, but that's not the point.

I run and workout with a Sebenza Classic (small) clipped into the front right pocket of my shorts. Never has come loose and I check from time to time while running. Good luck.

i used to run with my la griffe too
wrap the handle with cord for a good grip even when sweaty

Check out the Blade-Tech "Wegner" Mouse-lite, it's lightweight and solid. It can be broken down for cleaning. It's composed of a 440c blade and FRN scales, so, there's not much maintenance required.

check out the buck/mayo north shore, really really light, has a clip, blade is 3 1/8'' 420hc steel, medium thickness blade, liner lock.
bucks 420hc is actually very good steel, its suprised me many a time with its edge holding ability and ease of sharpening.

I'm a realist.

I don't need or take my knives with me when I crap, shower, exercise, or sleep.

:D

Mate - you never know when those Ninjas are going to strike, it pays to be prepared........paranoid? Me?

True story - My toilet door handle broke off in my hand one fatefull day last year. In a small house in the middle of the bush, no-one can hear you scream. If not for my EDC that I had taken in with me I might have been stuck in there for a long, long time. I used my Military to chip away at the plywood around the lock and then rip the lock out, incredible hulk style. So I'd either 1) re-think your first category there or 2) C**p with the door open. :D

Spyderco Salt I, no question. Light, inexpensive, totally corrosion proof.

I jog with an Endura myself but I'll second the opinion of those that say the Spyderco Salt.

No worries about your sweat rusting it.

I'd go with the Spyderco Salt recommendations as well.

My dad does a lot more running than I do, he a couple different Ti fixed blades from time to time, he just likes them better than folders, and obviously there are no rust problems.

Spyderco Endura or Delica.

Feather light, good clip, easy to replace if lost. No contest, unless you sweat A LOT, then maybe a Salt.

For zero blade corrosion issues and a nice, hand-friendly knife, try the Camillus Talonite EDC.

"TALONITE has been shown in laboratory tests to hold an edge longer than the best tool steels, but is easy to resharpen when it does eventually dull. TALONITE is also completely impervious to rust and is the perfect blade material for a marine environment."

The size on the EDC is right, but the weight is not, it's a pretty heavy little knife for its size, and when clipped to loose, lightweight clothing can be a bit annoying while running. If you have a neck sheath for it though it should be fine. I clip my endura to my waistband when jogging, it's a little bit big though, a delica sized folder would be perfect.

Spyderco Delica (plain edge for me). The different Native models aren't bad either, but more often than not, the Delica makes the run. Wipe that blade down every once in a while with any light oil--you could run in the rain no problems. Marine Tuf-Cloth if you're really serious. The only problem with the Delica is that you'll probably forget you have it on!

And why not carry a knife when you run? We're all knife enthusiasts around here right?! :)

I've been running with an Endura for years (and boy am I tired). I don't even notice the weight. Wipe the sweat off, leave it open to dry, no worries.

I recently added a Spyderco Pacific Salt to my knife collection and it's a nice knife. I bought it for use in the pool and when going to the beach, river etc. I wouldn't think anyone would have to explain why somebody might want a knife for swimming, on a knife forum, LOL. It's my goal to have a knife available to me 24/7. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is a knife for taking a shower.

I carry my Benchmade Skirmish (fanny pack) or Spyderco Endura when I do road work.

I like my carrying my Spyderco ParaMilitary clipped to my shorts. It's big (relatively), tough and lightweight.
