Running with Knives?

Aside from being into knives I am also a runner and I was wondering if there are any other runners on here, what do you carry when you run? And how? I personally carry my Spyderco Dragonfly 2 and usually in the pouch of my handheld water bottle if it's a longer run, if it's a short run honestly I usually just skip the blade. This is my handheld waterbottle I use:

The Dragonfly fits very easily into the pouch. Sometimes I'll bring the bottle just for the fact that it gives me an extra pocket.

In summer, Spyderco Pacific Salt clipped to waistband of shorts. In winter I usually run in BDU trousers so it's usually my ZT 350 clipped in my right front pocket

If I do take a blade with me on a run it generally rides on the inside of my hip. normally the lightest knife I carry that has a clip, a Delica in ZDP-189. Especially with how much one sweats during texas summers. that 20% Chromium really helps. However anything longer then 6-8mi I drop the knife, shirt and go down to short shorts w/ fivefinger shoes

I can't get into those Vibrams Five Fingers. As far as near barefoot running I DO have a pair of Reebok RealFlexs and I love them, I even do some ultralight hiking in them on occasion as they can hold up to a trail pretty well (they were partially designed for trail running). I honestly wouldn't have even picked the Reeboks up except that my buddy works for them and I got them for half off, but now I would buy another pair for full price.

Everyone runs faster with a knife.

Yeah it just depends on the person, for one I have next to no arch, and two there is no padding near the heel so your achilles' tendon doesnt get shortened during longer runs. However if you just run barefoot on some grass as a cool down (say 10-20% of whatever your main run was) the tendon is just fine. but most people dont want or know about it and as a result are more prone to injury during runs.

I tried on the realFlex's with a friend and they arent bad, pretty funky, but I had the same feeling towards the vibrams. Also some trail running on those is loads of fun, except if you get thorns between the toes. . . had that happen twice before switching to the leather covered Vibrams

Clip it tip down to your pants and ready you are for whatever may come.

Pacific Salt is my choice for exercising. Sweat does not bother it one bit:thumbup:

I usually don't take a knife with me when I run, and I find that having a folder bouncing around in my pocket is annoying as all hell. Once or twice I took my Izula (hung around my neck), Guardian, or Braveheart, (clipped in my waistband) but didn't really like the feel of that either. I don't generally carry a knife when running or exercising.

I find a homeless guy and pay him $20 to chase me with my BK9. I also have to let them borrow my bike for any runs longer than about 20 yards.

Seriously, when I'm running is about the only time I don't have a knife on me.

I run trails by myself and usually don't see anyone so I have been forcing myself to bring my phone but usually I just bring an ID and my car key.

This is what works for me, most recently and most successfully I've been running with my Cold Steel Safe Keeper single bladed (push dagger type) knife. It has a T style handle with a 2.5" blade. In addition it has a plastic friction sheath and a clip. The clip I use to hold onto my keys, my carry method is my hands! So left hand knife with keys right hands, usually empty or water bottle. I don't put anything on my waist other than pants and if situation need be I can deploy my knife very fast!

When I go running I generally wear a pair of Adidas thermal thights, they have a small zippered pocket on the back where I usually carry either a SAK or a small folder. I think the small pocket is actually designed for carrying money or an ID, however, my old Leatherman C300 fits there perfectly, it doesn't bother or bounce around. Most running thights have a similar pocket.

Come summertime, 5's or barefoot (with sandals in my bag for indoor places). I really don't run to run but I run a lot to get places in the summer. Chicago is too messed up in the winter to try. :D
I almost always have a small Vic Tinker on me and I've been rocking a Cara 2 a lot. I work on the beach as my civilian summer job so I'll probably stick to the small Tinker I carried last year. FWIW, I'm pretty fast for being 6'10", 13:58 so far in the two miler. :D

Spydero Military and it has one purpose, protection. Maybe a Delica for utility.

Running the tough mudder this year. If they have no rules against "weapons" I want to run it with my RC3-MIL... just for fun.
