That's absolutely gorgeous Thomason...been thinking about a Ruple myself someday. Maybe a Stockman

Sweet, Rob.

I was recently admiring that one (if it's the one that was posted over at Nordic Knives) and wondered how long it might last.

My only Ruple is a 3.5" stockman pattern. It's easy to see why his work is much admired.

Rob,
That's real nice.The filework is unique,and the bone,really perfect.I like the bladeage,useful looking combo,add in those bolsters,real nice! Congrat's !

A lot to like on that knife, but I really like the big fluted bolsters and the long pull on the main blade. What is the steel?

Wow, I really like the file work on that one! I love the long pulls too. What a great score!

Beautiful knife Rob. From a good guy also.

Thanks guys. I'm a happy camper with this one. The steel is ATS-34, Mike.
Not sure if my terminology is correct but another nice touch is the way the backspring(?) goes all the way around to take up some of the space left by the shorter pen blade. Picture shows what I mean better than I can describe it. Ruple on top compared to a couple of other Barlows.

That spring coming around to fill the hole left by the shorter pen blade is called an extension spring. It was done on better jack knives in the past, gets rid of a lint catch.
Very nice knife Bill. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Tony. I like the use of them especially with small pen blades. I have always wondered what they were called.

Wow, that's gorgeous! My favorite pattern, from one of my favorite makers! Great score!
Some day...

Wow Rob! That is really nice. I love the grinds and swedges, and the bolster work is terrific. The bone scales show some real translucent depth that is striking.

Congrats amigo, couldn't be in better hands.

Bill Ruple sure makes a nice knife and that ones a real beauty. Congratulations!

I knew that :D ..... (thanks Tony!)

That is a super duper Ruple:thumbup::cool:

Wow, beautiful knife I don't buy a lot of slips but Bill is high on my list. Thanks for the description of the extended spring, Tony.

That has to be one of the prettiest Barlows I have ever seen! I too love the look of that spring that comes around to meet the pen blade. Rupple does great work!
