Ruple-Moki Custom

John, until the recent runs of traditionals from Italy with M390 stainless, I thought VG-10 the best available. I have had many Queen/S&Ms with both D2 and ATS-34, but still preferred the VG-10.

Apart from cheap, nameless steel, I wonder how many steels aren't perfectly adequate for most of the folks who buy them and use them. I'm not sure where I fit in the demographics, but I don't do anything that 440c and 1095 can't handle just fine with the right edge.

I tried one of these but the walk and talk was so poor I sent it back. You literally had to push the blade into full open and drag it back past the half stop before it would close freely. Very disappointed and said so but no reply from Culpepper. Returned and refunded without issue.

I got one today in mahogany bone; It's a fine knife. Like the Bose/Case in quality but definitely a Ruple, hence the hint of a curve, bigger front bolster and a nail nick big enough so you can pinch it open. Edge is fantastic, bone the best Culpepper can do, mill relived liners, inscribed liner, (a nice touch) light weight - comfortable in use at the bar :)

It' a modern slippie with Old School character ;) if they get enough support there will be more of these collaborations.

How is the Walk and Talk? If it doesn't have a firm spring, it's not for me!!

Mine has fine walk and talk. It snaps into the half stop, closed and fullopen positions but can be pinched open.

The people at Old School Knifeworks want happy customers, I am pretty sure if you asked they'd pick you a knife you'd enjoy. For years, I have my knife buyer trained to ask for a look-see before shipment. I've met them at a few shows and give their sting ray wallets as presents. They are good people.

I've had it for almost 3 months. Carried it a lot. Pushed the Bose/Case tribal spear to 2nd place.

VG10 is sweet, better than 154cm, the bone is still unbelievable, and all that picky sh*t I have with any knife has fallen by the side. Came with a keen edge, I've worked on stone hones to keep it.

Truly a knife to experience! It's a lot of fun to use.

I did a comparison with Case chestnut bone and a Sunfush Forge trapper in Culpepper amber bone and this Moki with Culpepper Mahogany bone is the best.
