Ruptured both eardrums.

Good luck man. I hope that you get better. I understand that its very isolating to be unable to hear.

I'm sure that the doctors are right and that you will get your hearing back.

Interesting observation: we were in the emergency room on Wednesday after my 11 month old son had a seizure (it's been a great week or two here, boy!) - he's ok, by the way - and whenever a doctor or nurse would come in the room, I would say "just to let you know, I ruptured both of my eardrums last week, so you might need to speak a little louder for me to hear you"

Without fail, they would turn to my wife and just talk to her in lowered voices. They would just ignore me. Pricks.

Now when I got pulled over by a cop just feet from the front of my office, the cop was really nice and explained in a clear, loud voice just why he was giving me a ticket.

I think it's officially Miller time for me. What a week!

I hope you heal up real soon. It is frustrating!

I have been half-deaf with a slight ringing in my right ear for years and had a bad head cold a few months ago that wiped out the hearing in my left ear completely. For over a month I walked around going crazy. I couldn't hear music at all, just squealing on the radio.

After the antibiotics and decongestants and the rest of the meds, my left ear gradually returned to normal ... and so did the right. Now I hear better than I have for years.

I hope you do at least as well as I did !! (And I'm glad your son is OK, too.) :D
