Thanks everyone for the pics, very helpful. I think I will order one of the Russell Barlows in sawcut bone with pen blades very soon. I will let everybody know how I like it.

If those are the AG Russell knives in his catalog, well he has one of the finests catalogs I like to page through. A fine collection of knives.

I need a little more help guys. I am having trouble finding a Russell Barlow with a spear point blade and bone handle for sale. I found one from a seller on ebay, but I don't have a good feeling about it and he wants too much, I could get stag for that. Why are they so hard to find, I can find the grandaddy and razor versions all over the place? I found one with a stag handle at a good price, but I don't want a thick handle. Can anyone with some recent Russell experience tell me if they use fat stag or is it the thinner stuff?

I might have to settle for a Boker Barlow, how do they compare? I would think the quality would be the same since the new Russells are made by Boker, but I have found Bokers to be a little poor F+F wise. Where can I get a regular Russell branded barlow with a spear point blade and a sawcut bone handle? Please help me out so I can own a new good knife and a little piece of history.

When I got mine, I purchased it from SMKW. I don't know if Boker is still making them under contract with Dexter-Russell which may explain some scarcity.

Original Russell's can be found on the auction site for the most part.

Either way, you might want to post what you're looking for in "Knives: Wanted To Buy".

Brian, check your email and PM.

My pleasure. Helping each other out is its own reward.
