It looks like when this knives came to be available in US as any other manufacturers, I got addicted - just can not stop...
----------------------------------------------------------
This is fourth Russian knife in my collection. It does not look like knife - it is spear on the knife handle or really short spear. It catch my eyes right when I saw it first in their catalog and this is the case when you just can not resist:

Grind is hollow both on the bottom and top, top howeer is not sharpened, but 1mm thin so can be sharpened easily. Steel - same best soviet stainless 110X18MSHD (1.1C 17Cr). Handle is birch nodule, Zlatoust traditional shape, very comfortable.

Length 6 1/8" 157mm
Width 1 13/16" 46mm
Thickhess 13/64" 5mm
Weight 8.2oz 233 g

Very beautifull knife.

nozh2002,

Good looking knife, I like that blade shape...but a wooden guard? What are the spacers made of? They add much to that knife. Thanks, Preston

Guard and butt are made of Micarta - it is pretty durale, they also do aluminium. Spacers aree birch bark (my favorite material for handle).

Birch nodule is quite hard and with propritory treatmentv based on bee wax it is pretty suitable for handle, at least much more beautifull then G10. If you check - many custom knives which costs way more then this (which is underpriced for now IMHO) are made out of hardwood, burl etc.

My personal preference - birch bark. It is light, soft, warm, durable, but I like to try birch nudle also. Other option - staked leather - see my Taiga post.

Thanks, Vassili

Cool! I'm liking these Russian knives. And the new photos. I think they should be using your pic's over at ROSarms. ;)

Looking forward to seeing more. :)
