prototype for a diving knife, it would have a plastic handle when compleat, blade is steel but for production in hardened titanium or tanolite.... depending on the buyer budget...:)

an american style knife, not compleat, its going to have a tapered tang, with a dovetailed rivited metal guard and a ribbed thumb stop, also the guard needs reforming to fit the hand better,

Wait, I'm confused. Cougar moved some knife discussion to Community Center? What's K.V. gonna do?

Isn't this more like Gallery material?

nice blades =)

Australia has seen a fair few Kizlyar knives and the prices are very reasonable and the designs are just beautiful =)

our collectors society here sells them

Looking forward to these new designs.

It was posted in Community Center and I moved it to The Gallery. You happened to click on the thread a moment after the moving truck arrived and a moment before the thread was moved.

Oh. Didn't know that. No disrespect intended in my confusion.

ill put some better pics of the factory and the work later,

oh really?
Hey I'm working on a knife design (non professional) as a competition (in our community forums). We'll be picking the best design for a knife that celebrates Australian knives.

Would Kizylar be interesting in producing some of these?

Julius, scanning back through that album, I came across pictures 18, 19, 20, and 21. They are all of a dagger with a Ukrainian emblem on the sheath and with a variety of holes cut in the blade. Is that fantasy or some traditional style?

Some beautiful knives. I just visited your web site and for those interested there is an english button on the upper right hand side of the page. Outstanding stuff.

There's something about the diver prototype that I like... :o

Thanks for sharing.

thinks ill post a foto of it when its ready, the wood handle is only for the form,
there is 3 models the guard is ressesed into the handle aswell as the poemmel, the blade is 7mm thick, we will make the production knives out of tanolite to hardened titanium, the handle is offset so u can feel which side is the saw and which is the blade, the saw is cutt on both sides, the prototype is in 65x13 steel, like 440b steel,
there is a smaller onefor line cutting and such andanother on with a chistle point on the blade and a symetric handle,
ill show the compleat pics in afew days, theyer for a military order, not russian military but one of the "coalition of the willing" militarys :)

G'day Ausjulius!

I went to the Sydney gun show a few days ago and met Con and Corey I think it was at the Kizlyar Knife stand ... the knife I was most interested in whilst chatting was the DV-2 Spec Ops blade - I also see there is a smaller DV-1 that they didn't have at the table at the time.

There seems to be some confusion about what the blade is made of. When I asked they said is was some Russian formulation like D2 but called stainless, Russian 65X13 steel. Ok that's fine but in the brochure I came away with it says made from Z30 which is French I believe?

It would be nice to get some solid info on what the actual specs are since they differ from the website to the brochure and what I was told by the guys at the show who weren't too sure it seemed. It also states in the brochure and that the DV-2 blade was designed by Spetznas - do we have any information about Spetznas using this blade like photographs in the field - also what testing have these knives been through and what kind of damage have they taken in testing?

For a tough field knife used and designed by Russian Spec Ops it would be nice to have some supporting data - information, photographs, test r4esults etc to back the knifes hardiness and to nail down the type of steel actually used. All things being equal I might then be ready to buy a DV-1 or DV-2. I was also struck that some of the prices at the AKC site are cheaper than those advertised in the offical Kizlyar brochure ... perhaps you could help clear some of this up for me?

Best,
