Some pretty good stuff here...

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian rescuers on Friday saved 11 people stranded for nearly three months in a remote area of the Pacific coast after a fishing trip went wrong, local media reported.

The group had survived by eating flour they scavenged from a deserted military base, hunting for game and burning furniture for fuel and heating, the Vesti-24 television station reported.
Their two boats were damaged in a storm on October 10 during a fishing expedition off the Kamchatka Peninsula.
One vessel was lost and they were unable to repair the second, forcing the group, which included three women, to remain in their makeshift shelter with no way of calling for help.
When their food supplies started to run low, they sent five of their party to seek help. After walking for four days, the five found a military unit which then sent for help.

Sweet! thats a great story..with a good ending. Gene

This is a great story. I really want to know more about the details. I'm pleased they were rescued ultimately.

Thats cool. 3 months is a long time!

It will be a movie. No question about it, other than when it will come out. It would have to be an incredible story. Not only the survival aspect, but the social politics that evolved during the ordeal.

What was the climate like where they were stranded?? I'm assuming cold? I wonder if they were ale to use any of their fishing equipment?

Anybody have a link, I would love to read about it and I would watch the movie too. Chris

I just saw that story about an hour ago. Cool stuff.
Not often you hear happy endings after 3 months lost.

WOW:eek: 3 Months is a very long time! Good to hear that they made it.

I bet they know all about bushcraft now. Glad to hear they all made it back, and I would go see the movie in a heartbeat.

It strange to me they didnt eat any fish. That would seem like the most logical food source as they were out on a fishing trip. Maybe their gear went down with the ship who knows. Anyway glad to hear they made it out ok.

THAT is what finally drove them to run for help!

LMAO. This keeps getting better and better :D.

And the reason they didn't go fishing for food is because the women complained that the guys were having too much fun.

CNN had a good right up, they did not live in the Bush, they actually had rooms on an old Soviet Base that had some left over food on it, mainly flour that they made Ash cakes out of. All were in good shape, 4 of them did have to walk 4 days to get help only after their food supplys were running low then they walked the 4 days to get help.
