rust cutter

SiliKroil!!!!!!!!!!!

* The oil plus silicone that penetrates - creeps into small openings as small as a millionth of an inch............... MILLIONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoaaaaaaaaaaa
* Lubricates - carries lubrication into infinitely small spaces
* Dissolves rust - breaks down the crystals of iron oxide so stuck-together parts can be loosened easily
* Resists wetting - a SiliKroil surface repels water or moisture thereby avoiding corrosion

The most PENETRATING substance known to mankind.

I just got several sod busters at blade from a junk box. (Kissing Crane) all had different levels of rust. I wet them down with WD-40 then used a fine Brillo pad to scrub and wash them. This included the wood handles. Rinse with clean water and dry them with a hair dryer. Worked just fine. next a little paste and buffed them back to a nice shine. Then a little oil for the wood and they look great.

hi folks, thanks again for all the ideas. i am going to pick out about 4 groups of 5 each and try some of the "kill em' or cure em'" methods. if i get any results worth sharing--i'll post them...........thanks again................b

ummm, I don't think so. Takes an acid to break crystals of iron oxide. I think what is actually happening is that individual crystals that are rubbing against each other and blocking movement are allowed to move by the application of lubricant.

Never tried the stuff, could be great lubricant. Dissolve iron oxide crystals? Not happening.

Kroil is the real deal, at least in my experience it works better than WD40 or Liquid Wrench as a penetrating lubricant. And it removes adhesive just as well as WD40. I've used Kroil to free up many a rusted tool, if you can be patient enough it almost never fails.

Their advertising does contain a bit of hype and looks like it has not gotten an update since the fifties. But the only complaint I have about the products is that I can't buy them at the local hardware store.

Yea. I like Kroil. And I like the old 50's style can. At least it's not in two or three different languages and have yellow warning labels all over the can (I better go out and check to make sure that's right) :D

I can't comment on the others mentioned here, but I do have to back the PB-Blaster reccomendation. It's some pretty aggressive stuff. I would actually be concerned that it might damage the handles of some of the knives, and at all cost don't get it in your eyes.
