Rust on blade

I am new to knife making and this forum. I made my first knife about a month ago and have been using it daily to see how well it holds up. I rinsed out my kydex sheath last night with some water and wiped off the blade with some denatured alcohol to remove some sticky residue on it. Today I pulled the knife out of the holster and there are some rust spots on the blade. The blade is O1 tool steel. What can I do to remove and prevent the rust?

Bar cleaners friend and scotch bright pad will clean it up. It rusted because your kydex had a slight amount of moisture in there. Always be sure to let it dry over noght

After cleaning a blade, give it a protective coating. My favorite is Renaissance wax.

Always dry everything well before putting away. If possible, do not store knives in the sheath.

I think problem was probable the sheath you rinsed off wasn't as dry as you thought it was. All I carry are carbon knives only rust issue was water related. I just wipe off with a dry rag.

After rinsing the sheath off with water, squirt it down with WD40 on the inside
Let it dry
