MDP,
I would recommend SENTRY SOLUTIONS Tuf-Cloth and for real extreme conditions, Marine Tuf-Cloth.

I use them all the time, and I'm VERY satisfied wtih my results.

Hi Marion:

I don't think that much will work when wear is factored in.
My solution is to take a minute each evening to hone with a piece of leather and green buffing compound. Edge stays very sharp and there's enough wax in mixture to coat blade finely.

Car wax works also. It stays on for a while! give it a shot

It is all Greek to me

What about knives that'll be used for food prep as well as other camp chores. Does anybody worry about ingesting whatever it is they treat their blades with (tuff cloth, car wax, etc.)?

Picked up a tip here on BF to use Mineral Oil, the type you buy in a drug store. It's designed to be swollowed, so it's got to be OK w/ food.

Don't know how it compares to other products, but it is food safe and does provide a protective coating.
