I've been blessed with a son who's now four months old - so I'm taking a few years hiatus from backcountry backpacking and will be exploring the luxuries and comforts of car-camping.
Looking for recommendations for tent-only campgrounds or rustic campgrounds with walk-in sites away from the crowds and RVs. Basically looking for places to pitch a tent, accessible by car but offering the illusion of backcountry camping. Also, definitely want good day-hiking trails nearby. Needs to be under four hours driving time from NYC.
I'm also considering buying an Eureka Equinox 6 tent - anyone have experience with those or other recommendations for large, luxurious family tents for around $300?
Many thanks!
