Recommendation? Rusty File Turned Dagger

That's neat. How much, if at all, do the file bits still on the guard and blade affect the kydex?
Meanwhile, I like what appears to be a sturdy tip and overall length. A lot of daggers I've seen sure appear to have delicate points ... while they're still attached...
Looks like a fun project.

Thank you! I sanded them down quite a bit, so they don't interfere with the kydex. It actually fits in there perfectly both ways and sit securely without grinding out a bunch of the kydex when removing it from the sheath. I made this knife as durable as I possibly could while still leaving it serviceable as a knife. Even tempered at 500°F. It certainly was fun!

Very nice work. Simple design, nice lines.

Couple recommendations, since you are asking (i.e. thread prefix at the time of my reading this post is "Recommendations?"), and these are just my opinion:

I'm a fan of more taper in the tip profile, since it is better a piercing, which is a dagger's job in life, typically.

I prefer scales that cover the guard for ergonomic and safety reasons, though I have made them both ways, for various reasons.

With a dagger, I like to make pancake sheaths, because visually, they better highlight the knife's symmetry, and functionally they better accommodate the double edge.

What you've got there is very good, and you should feel a sense of accomplishment for making it, especially if you are new to knife making.

Thank you for the compliment, and for the input! That all makes sense to me. I've been making knives for about a year now, so I know I've got to ton still to learn. Cheers!
