I am sending Rusty this khukuri Monday. It is 13 inches overall, blade 8 inches, 5/16 thick.

Maccha means fish in Nepali so now you know why it's called a Maccha khukuri.

Now you see it

Now you don't

Sorry Bill, no HI 'fish' swim to San Francisco until a deer horn handled, silver mounted, salyan cho sirupati with the 'fancy' scabbard gets here first.

Now THAT would make a neck knife to wear on Sundays.

No, Rusty. This is to hang on your wall next to your door -- just in case you have uninvited visitors. To all else it looks like a nice wall plaque. To you it looks like a khukuri, 8 inch blade, 5/16 thick, with a strange sheath but ready to be drawn in a second.

The Tibet Thee is the neck knife and if we can find the right maker it will be of the same quality (almost) as an HI khukuri.

I`m not sure that I would want to work with that design. As an aside to Bill"Uncle Bill"Martino,We do have the resourceses within this forum to cover from A to Z.Everyone has known a "Pappy".I knew a SSGT.with C.I.B.`s from WW11 and Korea,a good NCO,who called himself "Herbie".A very friendly guy who not only insisted on being called 'Herbie"but called everyone else "Herbie"too and, I mean everyone, his only form of address..This could be a little confusing. He was good in the bush and, people managed but, being crazy had something to do with his low rank. So,If you survived the last one,hi Herbie.

Soon as I get the kid out the door tomorrow morning I head for the Post Office.

(( edit - wait a minute - You want me to put this item on the wall next to the door *instead of* or *in addition to* the two handed warsword w/ 45" double edged blade behind the front door? I'll have you know that 90" of edge is a *LOT* to sharpen!!! ))

On the other hand, if I have on my high heeled cowboy boots, I can put the point of the sword against the floor and hook my nose over the pommel if I stretch. You might say that that speaks eloquently without me opening my mouth.

I picked up the fish and have decided it has become my desktop letter opener and paperweight. For those days when I have to tell a client, " No, ma'am I did not say I think you are an unfit mother. What I said is that the court order already did that for me."

Playing around with it some this afternoon. God, but that handle feels good! Now I want a 15" Sirupati with a fish tale handle... nah, I'll just go lay down 'til the feeling goes away. What's weird is that it's a big fat handle to me, the kind I decided against! You go figure, it's beyond my comprehension. It's like blondes, brunettes, and redheads... I want them all!!!!!
