I recently spoke to a retired SOG (Studies and Observations Group)
operator who carried the LaGana Hawk regularly during his two tours...he now works in the respiratory health field.
He indicated that there was NO better instrument for sentry removal than his Hawk.
Life Magazine also published photos of members of the 101st carrying the Hawk in droves.
When www.americantomahawk.com is completely functional, we intend to have a Peter LaGana Museum, which will pay tribute to his legacy via editorial, pictures, and letters that came back from the war about the Hawks and the men that carried them.
If anyone else can add to this thread, please do so!!!

I've got a friend who was in CCN for a couple tours and have had the opportunity to handle his old hawk. The blade is spotless and ridiculously sharp and there are some "questionable" stains on the haft. When asked, he merely said "It got used a lot."

Thanks for posting that Ken!!! If he is willing, have your friend contact me, as I am quite interested in gleaning some of his experiences from a conversation on the phone.
The number is toll free.

FNG;
I emailed you but don't know if you got it or not, so will repeat my question here.
Where can I find a copy of the FM 21-50 that you mentioned in one of your posts. I have not been sucessful in finding it listed in the General Reimer's web page.
Is FM 21-50 simular to: FM 7-85 RANGER UNIT OPERATIONS, 09 JUN 1987 ?
