RW Clark is not someone you want to trade with, and I would highly recommend considering another custom knife maker to deal with. While I cannot comment on the quality of his knives, his handling of our trade has so far been very poor. This issue is still on going. I am posting this as I watch the UPS truck drive by yet again. Here is the story so far. On 15 March I answered a trade posted by RW Clark who was looking for MRE’s in trade for one of his custom knives. On 20 March I received a reply that he would be willing to trade with me and we agreed to trade 12 MRE’s for one of Mr. Clark’s Mini-MAU knives. On 21 March I sent Mr. Clark an e-mail telling him what color Mini-MAU knife I would like, and that I would be shipping the MRE’s that day. Latter that day I sent another e-mail giving Mr. Clark the tracking number for the package. The package arrived at Mr. Clark’s address on 24 March. I attempted to contact Mr. Clark to find out the status of the knife he was supposed to have sent me. After a week of e-mails and phone calls with no response, I finally received an e-mail from Mr. Clark on 28 March apologizing for not sending the knife because he went out of town. He wrote he would send the knife out that day. A week later the knife still has not arrived and again I have not been able to get in touch with him as I post this. I will not do business with this individual again. To me this behavior is just plain wrong. By the way, if and when it arrives does anyone want a Red Mini-MAU? I promise my shipping of the knife will be much better.

Droopy;

Please be sure to post when you receive your knife, and please post what Ron's explanation is.

Ron makes great knives, and I'm sure you'll be pleased with it as soon as it arrives.

I hope this is resolved very soon.

Ron, you can't let how busy you are with getting your Liquidmetal knives going get in the way of living up to your obligations.

Droopy170, I know for sure that Ron is really busy right now. He has been a little slow at getting things done the last while, but he always comes through. Try to take this in stride and if you can, keep the knife when you get it; you will like it.

I hope you're enjoying Eglin AFB as much as I did, and yes, I'll gladly take the Red Mini-MAU off your hands just as soon as you get it...

Normally I'd say I'll just send you the money, and Ron can send me the knife...but, I'm sure that Ron will want to square his deal with you personally. Let me know when you get the knife.

12 MRE's? Full kits? These aren't AF issue are they? If so, where did you get them, and do you have more? And, if so, does your 1st SGT. know that you're selling/trading MRE's?

Mel

PS, RW makes some great knives...your loss will be my gain. Thanks in advance.

Cases of the real deal 'U.S. Government Property, Commercial Resale Is Unlawful' versions by Warnick?

Cool, I could use a few more cases...lol

Mel

I don't know much about the legality of selling them either, I just read off what is stamped on the side of the cases...

There's some other legal sounding 'stuff' there too, penalties and whatnot...

But, it doesn't say I can't buy them, only that you can't (re)sell them.

Let me know what you can get, and how much you want for them ;)

A search turned this up. OK enough thread drift from my end:)

The government is now requiring the factory to print directly on it's contracted full meals: "U.S. GOVERNMENT, COMMERCIAL RESALE IS UNLAWFUL". How does this affect the commercial sale of MRE’s? It strictly prohibits them! We were also informed that the government will be aggressively enforcing these unlawful sales.

Shipped Sat the 29th

I shipped a total of 10 packages that day and none of them have arrived yet?

That's funny. . .I can get MRE's in the Commissary. And not just from the local one.

Great thread drift !

Hey thanks for all the replies. I guess I should have stayed up later. In referance to the MRE's, They were all the real deal, issued to me over the course of the last year and not eaten. Beside's I belive what they mean is I can't go to the commisary to buy cases of them to sell as part of a business or with the express intent to sell them for profit. Then there is the added twist that this a "trade". ;) Melvin-Purvis, I'll shoot you an e-mail when it arrives. Eglin is a really nice base and I do enjoy it. If you are ever in the area let me know. :)
Mr Clark, I do understand the vagaries of the USPS. I once sent a birthday card to my mother inlaw, it was delivered 3 years later. It was scooped up with lots of other peoples mail as part of a postal fraud investigation. My problem is it took a post on the Forum to get a response. I sent several e-mails this week, and got no reply. If you had e-mailed me what you have posted here in reply, I would not have felt a need to post. To me it seems that the only reason I got any response was due to the intervention of the other Forumites.

Well guys...

I go on TDY, I get MREs to eat. They are mine and I can do with them what I want - see, when I am not deployed I get money for food from Uncle Sam. When I get the MREs I don't get as much money. In essence - I have bought and paid for the MREs. Now, I'm not going to push any legal envelope by trying to sell em, but trading seems fair to me. BTW - TheBadGuy has mail ;)

Dan

BTW - my dealings with R.W.Clark have been quite good :D

The Mini-MAU got here yesterday, and I picked it up at the post office today. No Explanation as to why the USPS got it out late. If anyone wants it, I'll be posting on the exchange shortly. Melvin-Purvis declined to take it off my hands.

For clarification...

There were two negative threads pertaining to knives/knife makers that I took exception too...yours, and the Kershaw thread. In both I made offers to buy upon receipt of the knife in question.

In the Kershaw Leek thread, the thread starter made a comment that he would 'Just give it to a family member' if he didn't get an offer for the knife...I offered $50, and he countered with a price higher that I can buy the knife for new...

It would seem that I've mixed up my threads, and so not meaning to cause you any undue inconvenience, if you can't trade away the knife within a week to your satisfaction, I will gladly honor to purchase said R.W. Clark knife at your delivered cost.

That's the best I can do bud, hope that helps.
