I am back from OKCA show and have a few knives left over. I am posting the SanMai Chopper up for sale today:

This Chopper is a product of a lot of input and combination of features found on previous knives I have made. In my opinion the Design and Materials used make a great package! I did A WIP on this Knife found Here: CLICK ME

Ryan:

Great looking knife there - well done.

Ryan, your work is so clean. I really like everything about this one. Then again, I really like everything about every knife you put up here.

I wish I could have made down to the show. I would have liked nothing more than to spend some time with you and Jonny.

Thanks Patrice and TK, really appreciate it!

Thanks Michael, Plan on next year I will be there. We actually drove up to Nick W's should have stopped by.

I apologize for my ignorance but could you say a little bit about your steel choice for this beautiful blade? Performance, edge-holding etc. Maybe some comparisons to other steels I might recognize? Thanks. Gorgeous work!

Thanks Blaid, No need to apologize. The Core of this blade is CruForgeV which is the cutting edge. The Wrought Iron sandwiches the core, I feel it creates a bit of insulation on the spine, it is not a hardening steel. I have tempered down the spine because this is a chopper. I have not had the Hardness tested but I was shooting for 58-59 HRC.

Here is how AKS describes CruForgeV: "CruForge V was developed specifically for forging into knives. Scott Devanna coordinated with knifemakers when developing the steel. The result is an excellent steel that forges and performs very well.

CruForge V is easy to forge but tougher to finish than any of the 10XX steels or 52100. The tradeoff is edgeholding. The vanadium in CruForge makes it hold an edge longer than the 10XX steels and 52100."

It should hold an edge very well. If you go to this site they compare it to 52100, 1080, and 1080+

I am no expert... Would love anyone with more knowledge to chime in
