S-7 steel

S-7 tool steel. Has anyone work with it and did you make a knife from it? How was it and tell about it please. Found some and was wondering about it. Thanks, James

S5 is better.

You might want to look into S5, which has mechanical properties more suitable for knives. It is tougher than S7 and has higher hardness.

i have a bunch of S7 but never made anything from it yet.

they make some of the best forgeing tools.......fullers punches etc it is an air quench steel not to be cooled in water when hot from fullering punching etc.......most of my tools are s7 dont knowabout knives thew......i cool the end of my pritches and punches and sometimes fullers in hoof packing
