Fist of all I want to apologize for not being up to date. I haven't visited the forums in a looooong long time. Anyway, I recently decided that I should buy a new EDC knife. I've always favored folders and now I've decided I should buy another high-end framelock folder with top notch materials (ti handle, s30v blade steel etc.). I had owned a Sebbie long time ago and then sold it (just wasn't right for me, though a fantastic knife). Since then, I've been carrying some mid quality knives, some of which are customs, and the very best knife I own is Emerson's CQC-12 Comrade (all titanium handle, got it as a present :)). Since Scott introduced his Lochsa I've known that was an excellent knife but I couldn't really afford it and I had already owned a sebenza then. Now I'd like to buy Lochsa but can't find it anywhere and on Scott's site I've read that he isn't taking any more orders. Is this temporarily? I'd really like to own this knife. Anyone knows something about this? Please help!

AFAIK, he's stopped taking orders as you say. So it would seem either knife dealers that might have one or if someone sells their used one.

Tried posting on knives wanted?

Like Dave H said, they do pop for sale on dealer sites, as well as The Knife Exchange here.

There have been a couple for sale recently including a fancy Lochsa with damascus blade and pearl inlays as well as one of the prototypes. The regulare Lochsas have been going for around $850, if I recall correctly.

And they are awesome.

For that kind of $$$, I'd just as soon stick with my Mayonized Sebbie, or, perhaps a R.Hinderer.

But Rick is a bit backed up also isn't he?

Rob

Yes, Rick is "backed up". Last I heard, he is still not accepting orders, either.

You will have to find a Mayonized Seb on the secondary market since he is no longer doing them. He did recently post one for sale, but it was an exception.

Any of the popular makers will involve a search or a lengthy wait.

Going up to $925....lately.

I've seen many people ordering lochsa with s90v steel. I know it's more resistant than s30v (although very difficult to work with), but I don't understand why would you pay 50$ more when the basic configuration with s30v steel is just great? Unless of course you're planning to use the knife for light cutting and delicate things (which is a good choice for such a fancy folder ;).

Someone who can make you a Ti Frame Lock with some major Flair is Matt Cucchiara. I believe he's still taking orders.

Here's his web site. Or you could have him "Fizz" a Sebenza for you.

http://www.cucchiaraknives.com/index.html?

Also mentioned, although you'd have to look on the aftermarket, is Rick Hinderer's stuff. Great, if you can find it.

Last I heard Matt isn't taking orders either. And I'm not sure he takes mod requests anymore either although I may be wrong on that one.

Can anyone help me choose between s90v and s30v? The knife will be used for fairly delicate tasks. Also, is it really that hard to get a razor sharp edge on s90v blade?

Thx

I finally got around to photographing one of my Lochsas. It has been my daily carry for over a year.

nice knife lunde.... are those pictures of the knife you have been edc for a year because that knife looks brand new and never been used

It would be better if the knife didn't have the clip and if it had polished face and back and two thumb ramps (maybe 14k gold :)) And s90v blade steel. And the leather strap should be matching the color of the thumb studs.

Scott can make one like this, if you can convince him to accept a new order. Once his backlog subsides, I am sure that he'll begin accepting orders again.

One of my Damascus Lochsas has two of the characteristics above: no pocket clip (and no holes drilled for one), and 14 karat (solid) gold thumb lug.

About my plain Lochsa shown earlier in this thread, posted yesterday, that's my spare. The one that has been carried for over a year, and still looks great, and is still very sharp, even though it has seen plenty of use.

The Locsha I have on order will have dual thumb studs. But, I did want a pocket clip, and it is tip up.

Nice Lochsa man, congrats! T.K.C - you haven't got your knife yet? How much longer will you have to wait? I sent an e-mail to Scott but still no reply.

It's a good idea to get a customized version of the knife to show off and take care of it and another standard version for EDC. If it isn't a secret, how much did you pay for that damascus beauty?

I paid $950 in June of 2004. These seem to be selling for $2K and up now. I paid $895 for this one, bought at the same time, but from a different seller:

It, too, has a 14 karat (solid) gold thumb lug.

My Lochsa is without a doubt my best folder. I have one with the MOP pivot and a 14kt thumbstud. Well worth the extra cash IMO. TKC with the S90 steel and the killer edge that Scott puts on his folders, you won't ever have to sharpen it.
