Every now and then I make a knife that I really like. Finished this one today. 9" blade of 01, whitetail crown grip with ugly face, I looked in the mirror and copied what I saw, iron guard with underside bevel. Thanks for looking.

Very nice. I really like that guard. How is the brass part (frog ??) attached? What are the eyes made of on the face?

That's a really nicely done knife, Ellerbe. Very nice sheath, too. You do the aged look very well.

I think the little face isn't just ugly, it's pissed, to boot! :) The red seed beads make some good eyes.

The frog, or belt hook, has a 3/32" pin in the base that goes through the collar, then is silver brazed.

That's a really nice piece. I don't generally go for the "aged" look much, but this one is just really nice. I like it!

Very nice, looks like it should be in a collection of originals. Love how you got the brass patina'ed, looks like it's been around a while.

Looks just right.
How about a quick rundown on the ferule. Brass strip & plate or soldered to the guard ?
Take care

Nice piece!

I'm not usually a big fan of this style... I guess because I'm such a "clean freak," but maybe it's usually just been the knives themself and not the style. I think this one is fantastic!

Cool stuff :D

Thanks guys. The ferrule is cut out of a piece of 1/32" brass sheet, and silver brazed together. Since the grip is tapered, I press fit the ferrlue on it with a little epoxy for insurance.
