I haven't posted here in a while. We have been really busy packing up the old shop and getting ready to move everything. It is amazing what a man can collect in a building over 25 years. I have found things I didn't even know I had.:D

If the rain will give us a break, we should be in the new shop by the weekend of July 10th. The building package is supposed to be dropped on site around the 20th of this month. I have all the utilities run underground. Water, power, gas and phone.
The building will be 24' x 32' with 10 foot sidewalls; a 12' loafing shed is being added, down one of the long sides. We are putting down an insulated 5" concrete floor to hold the heavy equipment.
We'll pour a concrete pad for the air compressor and vacuum system, under the loafing shed roof. It makes a shop more pleasant to work in if these two noise makers, are left outside.

This is the first use of my new logo.

I used the < Bethel Ridge Forge > logo for ten years. The logo is on close to 500 knives.
This new logo is a pretty good representation of the view to the south east, at night. The moon appears to rise from below the pine tree, thats in the picture, during much of the year. Its beautiful when forging at night.

These three are WIP but I'm not making much progress at all, with the shop down. I am anxious to get back into production.

I'll post pics as we go up with the poles. It should only take about a week to complete the entire project, once we get started.

The new logo looks good when etched, very recognizable. The big feather pattern blade looks very nice. It will be nice once the new shop is up and running. You will have to host a Hammer In once complete:)

How big a vacuum system, you got that you have to get a slab poured for it.

Hi Vern,

There is a car wash, locally, that changed out their vacuum systems, a few years back. I had a chance to pick up two of them for 25 dollars a piece.

We put new motors in them and opened up the restrictions in the system.
They move a lot of air.

The one I have is about the same size as the ones you see at the car washes, these days.

The air compressor I run is a big single unit with a 100 gallon tank. This unit needs a floor under it also.
Between the two units I would say they weight around 600 lbs.

Congrats on the new shop. That feather damascus bowie is going to be out of this world!!

I am looking forward to the finish work on the clip point. It has been an interesting blade to make and I enjoy the big knives more than anything, that is for sure.:)

The matched set are made from 1 1/4" cable; that was dry welded inside a section of stainless tubing; carbon/nickle powder was used, to fill the voids around the cable. It was pressed once to weld and then forged to shape. That is why the pattern is so distinct. It welds in one press, with no other hammering except to draw it out.
They will be done as a set with matching handle materials.

Thank you for sharing, Fred
