S!K vs CPK

Would it be fair to say that survive knives MAY (potentially) have a little extra corrosion resistance vs CPK due to the peened finish vs stone wash finish?

Maaayyyybe. I can't imagine ever knowing a discernable difference under ordinary (even extraordinary) circumstances.

I really like my CPK Field knife Pre-Delta 3v that I got a week ago and I'm waiting for my new one in Delta 3v that I picked up last Friday thanks to TRfromMT. It's a great knife in hand and surprisingly sharp even compared to Guy's sharpening skills, but the edge is much finer than my Survive! knives blades. I can't say what I like the "Best" between my GSO 4.1, CPK FK, or Bravo 1LT. I'd be comfortable carrying either one in the woods. Although, my first Survive! is one of my 4.1's and it's tough to beat, so I can't wait until I get my 2nd gen 4.1, but it seems like it might be at least a few more months.

Here's hoping the 4.1s come streaming out of the shop sooner rather than later :thumbup:

I used to own a first-run 4.1 and regular Bravo1. The BRKT had a MUCH finer edge than the 4.1 but then had that stupid-thick spine which is one of the reasons i sold it, that and I worried that the edge wasn't robust enough for my uses, I hated the spine "finn" and other aspects, and rather than modify it i might as well pass it along. Also, I decided not to support BRKT anymore. But I bet the Bravo1LT is worlds better than the original.

I saw Hard Knock's request for gso10 and cpk LC comparisons.

I wish I had the need or ability to use big blades often. Unfortunately it's just not my lifestyle at the moment, which prompted me to move my gso10 on to greener pastures.

While I don't have extensive experience with hard use on either blade, I can offer 2 things; comments on handling, and pictures.

The (gen1) GSO10 is a huge chunk of 3V compared to the LC. This additional mass has 2 effects, increased maximum momentum and loss of dexterity. The LC feels more nimble and precise in hand. The 10 feels like a brute that wants to hit something hard. Handles on the LC are far better; choke up for more control, hold further down for chopping leverage. The shape of the handle still provides positive grip during chopping, while I would recommend lashing a lanyard to the top most choil on the 10 if someone wants to swing that mass around. Of course these observations are IMO and YMMV.

Here's a few pics;

I saw Hard Knock's request for gso10 and cpk LC comparisons.........

CW, thank you for the thoughts and pictures!! :thumbup:

I agree with the assessment on the 10, that it begs to hit something. I carry mine in the tool box of my truck for clearing downed trees out of the road when I'm hunting. It's faster than dragging out the chainsaw on anything of reasonable size.

For similar sized knives, they're pretty different. I think there'll be a light chopper in my future......... :)

Thanks again bud, and cheers!

Really nice pics comparing the LC and GSO10 Coiledwire and think that dlc 10 is a mighty fine blade.
Has anyone ventured into having the forward lanyard hole done to their 10 and if so any hindsight?

Bump for any other thoughts/experiences/comparisons people have had?

Also, in regards to D3V used for survive, is it literally exactly the same as what CPK uses? Any differences at all? I'd like to re-raise a question someone else asked above that was left unanswered. Is CPK HT done by Peters too or in house?
