S! knife mods!!!

If I were to replace a flared set with a custom set, I'd figure out some fasteners to use.

I'd imagine you'd have plenty of options since you'd be replacing the scales and could do them how you want. The size of the fastener hole in the tang, do you think it would make for any challenges if replacing with solids?

^^^ I have to think the holes in the tang will be some standard size to also take a common fastener. I'm thinking along the lines of the S!K male/female threaded style. They are 0.25" diameter, and typical tube stock is 0.25, 0.375, etc. They'll most likely match, I am fairly sure.

I remember reading somewhere the diameter of the busse fasteners. I'm wanting to say they're 0.25." Man that'd be cool if so, I mean if new scales could be retrofitted with torx that would just work out slick. I'll see if I can find the thread on them.

The functionality of removable scales can't be beat (plus you can mix it up all the time) however, i do love the look of flared tubes as well.. I wonder how a survive knife would look in flared tubes!

After some more digging, I still believe the busse flared fasteners are done with 1/4" stainless tubing, so the tang holes should be 1/4"

I have a few self-made mods and some that others have done for me, but none in a while.. this thread is getting the old creative juices flowing!!! Maybe some liners are due...

Just a couple of sheath mods but using a Sagewood gso 10 dangler and an Esee 5/6 molle backer cover I came up with 2 molle capable sheaths for my 10 and new spec 5.1.

LOL, I saw your first post and walked away before I ever saw the second one thinking, "Hmm, sure wish he had posted a photo of the other side." Tah-dah! Thank you. The one on the 5.1 looks like it'd be a bit floppy, not so?

Floppy? not 100% sure what part looks floppy but if you mean the nylon backer part it is actually pretty stiff from the pressure of the kydex sheath grip swell. If you are talking about the roughly 1/2 inch of extra space with the dangler ring and the nylon strap, looks worse than it is and could be easily remedied with spacers of some sort.

Chiral, ended up using a bit of OD green paracord to take out all the gap between the D-ring and nylon.
Have to work with what's on hand, half the fun of tinkering around.

Absolutely   And yes, that was the part I worried might be floppy.

I am wondering if there is anything you can do to extend or improve the finger guard?
Does anyone find that the guard is not accentuated enough for tasks such as hammer stabbing or anything alike?
I am not sure myself as i am still waiting on my first S! Knife preorder. So any feedback on this topic would be appreciated

I'm not sure I'm getting your meaning. The finger guard would typically be the part of the handle that separates your tender digits from the cutting edge, but I'm not understanding the need for accentuating unless you're talking an overly exaggerated guard like the original GSO-10. I would rather have a beaver chew my pointer finger off than have to deal with a big guard like the original GSO-10, handles that are designed to get my hand closest to the cutting edge are my favorite, regardless of size.
