I have decided on getting one of these. I like the bone pattern on the regular 420 bladed ones but of course ats-34 is a better steel (file & wire model). Is the 420HC on the Mountain man good enough?

Queen also made a M/M in 1095 carbon steel.
And also a Carved Stag Bone in D-2 so a guy does have a choice.

Their 420HC is good, but their ATS-34 is better.
No truer words were ever spoken!!

If one of my nice ole' pal-o-mine gave me the choice because it was a gift from them to me, my choice would be a resounding:
"ATS~34 Please!" {with a big Grin from ear to ear:D } hands down!

However, I believe there is a premium price charged for the premium steel on that model.. And I believe their 420HC is more than adequate in that regard if one is on a budget and has to fork over the clams himself!. :)

I got mine in 1095 and have never been happier with a knife.

Nice knife xbxb!!!! I was not shura about that worm bone but after seeing your upclose..... nice!

I wasn't sure about the rootbeer worm bone either but after having the knife for a few months now I really like it. Good knife at a good price.

I have a Queen Classic (forget what they call it...cattle knife?) in 420. I'm perfectly happy with it. It takes an holds an edge at least as well as a SAK. They do 420 right.

I recommend the ATS-34 if you're in a position to do that; you'll get a lot more mileage out of it than out of 420.

I'm familiar with Queen's D2, which I like, but I'm not familiar with their 1095.
Generally, though, I'd go with 1095 over 420.
