Hey Steve, do you know that knife is now worth $300.00? As long as you have the one that has Titanium Handles and Aluminum Pins and has the Signature of the Japan Dojo Master it was Custom made for. [groan]

Ok, I have a BM42a and its great, but I have not seen any other Balisong out there other than in pics. What price point is this Bali? How good are they for real? I am not a great BM fan, but they make some great knives.

First Of all I have 8 benchmade balisongs so Im not dumping on benchmade ,but can anyone here give me a BRASS benchmade that was a production knife to compare to the tiger ? I think not ! I dont think you can compare a 42 to a brass tiger ,the 42 has the weight of a cheap china knife for 9.99 retail ! THe tiger has serious weight like I like for flipping .Why have I never seen Benchmade here asking what we want in a knife ? When Benchmade decides to make a brass balisong I will be the first in line to get one. Then we can compare but till then the brass SWAT tiger blows them out of the water !

Oh, OK. Well, in terms of pure mass, the Brass Tiger certainly has the 42 beat, there is no argument against that.

Benchmade did actually request Internet knife nut feedback on new blade shapes on their own forum a while back.

I think that had more to do with protecting their investment in the 42 Steve. They saw the Tachyon and Roton coming out...what choice did they have but to reignite the 42?

Just like we always said, Competition breeds innovation and options. I don't think they would ever have done this without a shove.

I do agree with others and have said so in the past, I wish they would come out with a Steel Handled Version of the 42.

Brass and weight are just a preference. Personally I like a lightweight balisong and titanium. Sure I like variety in my collection, but titanium and lightweight are my choice for an every day carry.

Just my opinion.

I also am pleased with my brass tiger. While I don't have the expertise of others on this forum, I do enjoy having a bali with substantial weight (but not for carry). It may be too heavy, and I do share the concern about the tang pin seats on the brass handles ... should I be concerned?

If I could only afford one nice bali, I'd keep my 42 (well, at least until the 43 comes out

).

I got mine............what a heavy beast! I like it!!!! I've got to do some more work with it to get used to the weight and get my hands in shape. Like S. alluded to, latch drops are a piece of cake. It weighs almost as much as a 5" skeletonized Bali-Song custom, but not quite. It swings very smoothly but not near as fast as the aluminum handled version. The way this thing fits up, i.e., tang pins into the handle pockets, trueness of pivots, etc..., leads me to believe that it will last a long time. I really flogged the aluminum handled one I had (I gave it to a friend of mine) and it absolutely was no worse for wear. Don't get me wrong, my 42's not going to go anywhere but the brass Tiger is a neat piece if you like a heavy and smooth butterfly..........

DD,

Can you imagine if they make that Beast out of Steel or Titanium?

Like I said before, "I'll be there."

That thing would really be the bomb in Steel or Ti. It might make The Balisong Hall of Fame.

......................... It looks like the way they're going that they will eventually try ALL the different materials for handles, which would be kind of neat, as long as my money holds out!!!

They won't even make a steel handled version anymore.

Do they have a website? Where are these Brass Tigers being sold? I see that I have to check this forum more. :)
